The Washington County Free Library invites you to the Fletcher Film Series, where each month, we show you films based around a different theme.

March's theme is "Sláinte!" (Gaelic for "good health"). Fáilte! In honor of St. Patrick's Day, come enjoy these great films about Irish life!

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

Our first film is the 1998 comedy "Waking Ned Devine". When best friends Jackie O'Shea and Michael O'Sullivan discover that someone in their small Irish village has won the lottery, they immediately set off to see if the winner is in a sharing mood. Unfortunately, they quickly learn that the winner, Ned Devine, has died from shock. Since Devine is the only one who can claim the 6 million pound prize, the townspeople band together to convince the claim inspector that he is still alive.

Starring: Ian Bannen, David Kelly, and Fionnula Flanagan

Run Time: 1 hour and 31 minutes

Rated PG for nudity, language, and thematic elements
