Program Description

Event Details

The Washington County Free Library invites you to our Summer Film Series, "Memoirs On-Screen". Each week throughout the summer, we'll be showing a different film based on a popular memoir. Reading the book is encouraged, but not required!

This week's film is "The Theory of Everything" starring Eddie Redmayne and Felicity Jones, based on the memoir "Traveling to Infinity: My Life with Stephen" by Jane Hawking. In the 1960s, future physicist Stephen Hawking falls in love with fellow student Jane Wilde. At age 21, he learns that he has motor neuron disease. Nevertheless, Stephen embarks on his most ambitious scientific work, studying the very thing he has precious little of - time. Together, he and Jane defy impossible odds, breaking new ground in science and medicine.

This film is rated PG-13 for thematic elements and suggestive material. Registration is not required. Water and light refreshments will be provided.
