Program Description

Event Details

The Washington County Free Library invites you to our Summer Film Series, "Memoirs On-Screen". Each week throughout the summer, we'll be showing a different film based on a popular memoir. Reading the book is encouraged, but not required!

This week's film is "Running with Scissors", starring Joseph Cross and Annette Bening, based on the memoir by Augusten Burroughs. The son of an alcoholic father and an unstable mother, teenage Augusten is sent to live with his mother's therapist, Dr. Finch, and his bizarre dysfunctional family. While Augusten reluctantly finds a surrogate family in the Finches, he also learns what he has to do for himself to have the life he wants.

This film is rated R for strong language and elements of sexuality. Registration is not required. Water and light refreshments will be provided.
