Program Description

Event Details

Washington County Free Library welcomes you to the Fletcher Film Series. Each month, we bring you films based around a central theme. Raise your glass and say "Sláinte!" as we celebrate Irish-American heritage with these films.

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

No registration required. Water and popcorn will be served.

Our first film this month is the coming-of-age dramedy "Sing Street" In 1985 Dublin, 15-year-old Conor has just been moved to a new school. Between the insane rules, fascist teacher-priests, and bullies, it's a daunting place. Then one day, he meets a beautiful girl named Raphina, and is instantly smitten by her. In order to get her attention, he tells her he's in a band that needs a model for a music video. There's only problem: he doesn't have a band. He hastily forms one out of other teenage dreamers, and with each song he writes, the gap between these two narrows.

Starring: Ferdia Walsh-Peelo, Lucy Boynton, and Aiden Gillen

Run Time: 1 hour and 46 minutes

Rated PG-13 for thematic elements including strong language and some bullying behavior, a suggestive image, drug material and teenage smoking.
