Program Description

Event Details

Washington County Free Library welcomes you to the Fletcher Film Series. Each month, we bring you films based around a central theme. March is "She Persisted" in honor of Women's History Month.

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

No registration required. Water and light refreshments will be served.

Our first film this month is Penny Marshall's 1992 film  "A League of Their Own", based on the real-life women's baseball leagues that cropped up during WWII. As America's stock of athletic young men is depleted during World War II, a professional all-female baseball league springs up in the Midwest. Competitive sisters Dottie Hinson and Kit Keller spar with grumpy has-been coach Jimmy Dugan, baseball scout Ernie Capadino, and each other on their way to fame.

Starring: Geena Davis, Lori Petty, and Tom Hanks

Run Time: 2 hours and 8 minutes

Rated PG for language
