Event Details

The Washington County Free Library invites you to the Fletcher Film Series, where each month's films are based around a different theme. December's theme is "Tis The Season". Love the holiday season, but tired of "It's A Wonderful Life"? Join us for something different as we share our selection of alternative "Christmas" films!

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

This week's film is the 1990 Tim Burton classic, "Edward Scissorhands". This dark modern fairy tale tells the story of Edward, a man created by an inventor who died before finishing him and left him with scissors instead of hands. One day, the local Avon representative comes calling at the old mansion he calls home, and takes him down to her suburban neighborhood to stay with her family. There, he falls in love with her teenage daughter Kim, and wins over the neighbors with his ability to cut hair and hedges. But not all fairy tales have happy endings...

Starring: Johnny Depp, Winona Ryder, Anthony Michael Hall, and Dianne Wiest

Rated PG-13 for mild language and frightening scenes

Run Time: 1 hour and 45 minutes
