Program Description

Event Details

Washington County Free Library welcomes you to the Fletcher Film Series. Each month, we bring you films based around a central theme. This July, take a break from the summer heat and explore the future with our "Summer Sci-Fi" films.

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

No registration required. Water and popcorn will be served.

Our final film this month is the 1982 sci-fi classic "Blade Runner". In the early twenty-first century, the Tyrell Corporation developed robots, called "replicants" which looked and acted like humans - until a replicant-led mutiny made them illegal.  Police units, called "blade runners", have the job of destroying any replicant on sight.  Rick Deckard, a former blade runner, is called out of retirement when four known replicants make their way back to Earth, with orders to destroy them before they locate their creator. However, as he tries to fix the mistakes of those who want to play God, conflicting emotions cloud his judgement. Can uncertainty and empathy overshadow a Blade Runner's sense of duty?

Starring: Harrison Ford, Rutger Hauer, and Sean Young

Rated R for multiple scenes of violence, language, and intense frightening moments
