Program Description

Event Details

Washington County Free Library welcomes you to the Fletcher Film Series. Each month, we bring you films based around a central theme. As summer draws to a close, enjoy some "Song & Dance" with these musical films.

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

No registration required. Water and popcorn will be served.

Our first film this month is the 1972 classic "Cabaret". We are in Berlin in 1931, a time when political unrest racks the country, the economy has been destroyed, and millions of unemployed roam the streets. Enter into this chaos Sally Bowles, an unconventional American cabaret dancer, working at the downtown "Kit-Kat club" where anything goes on the stage. Into this young dancer's life come a cast of characters such as a rich German politician, a young Jewish man struggling with his identity, an Englishman teacher from London, and of course the all-knowing, all-seeing Master of Ceremonies.

Starring: Liza Minnelli, Michael York, and Joel Gray

Run Time: 2 hours and 4 minutes

Rated PG, but contains multiple scenes of smoking and drinking, sexuality, suggestive dancing and material, and adult themes.
