Program Description

Event Details

Washington County Free Library welcomes you to the Fletcher Film Series. Each month, we bring you films based around a central theme. January is "Dear Sir", in honor of National Letter-Writing Week, which runs January 8-14.

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

No registration required. Water and light refreshments will be served.

Our first film this month is Jane Campion's 2009 biopic "Bright Star". It is 1818, and headstrong Fanny Brawne is introduced to the handsome but aloof poet John Keats. Although they clash at first, their feelings give way to romance when John agrees to teach Fanny about poetry. However, their love affair is threatened by their differences in station - and by John's increasing ill health.

Starring: Abbie Cornish and Ben Whishaw

Run Time: 1 hour and 59 minutes

Rated PG for thematic elements, some sensuality, brief language, and incidental smoking
