The Children's Department is collecting valentines for participants in the Meals on Wheels program until February 5, 2024.  We are asking you to help make the day a little brighter for those who are feeling isolated at home.

Read books, sing songs, make friends, and have fun at the library!  For ages 18-36 months.  Pre-registration with the Youth Services Department is required.  Online registration is not enabled. Current session runs January-March.

Books, music, and educational activities! Preschool Story Time takes place every Wednesday. 

Join us every Wednesday after Preschool Storytime for educational play, a learning craft, or a STEM/STEAM project. This program will be held directly after Preschool Storytime. 

Come to the Hancock Library for a lively morning of stories, music, dancing, movement and FUN! 

Toddlers aged 18 - 36 months and their caregivers will enjoy books, songs, flannel stories and rhymes with a librarian.

Had a baby in the last 18 months? Would you like to meet other parents and enjoy a few books and baby bounce rhymes/songs? This storytime is meant for wee ones, birth-18 months. Older siblings are always welcome too.

Calling all ages - Join Miss Laura on Fridays at 11:00 for story time. We are now meeting in the Community Room. Registration is not required.

Join us for Kids Discover STEM as we create glow in the dark recycled soda bottle fireflies on February 3rd from 11am-12pm. Storytime and instruction begin promptly at 11am, but the room is open to complete activities until 12pm.

Join us in the children's room for books, song, flannelgraph stories and more.  This story time is for all ages.

Come and get creative at the Hancock Library! Make a "Gumball Machine" candy jar that will make a great Valentine gift! These crafts are for ages 5 to adult and are in-house only. They will not be sent out as “take-and-make" kits.

Join us on the first Thursday of each month for an engaging book discussion! In February we will discuss The novel Evvie Drake Starts Over by Linda Holmes. All are welcome, no prior Book Club experience is needed!  

Meet Gimli, a lovable cat who is waiting to read with you.  Gimli doesn't worry about how well you read, just that you are there with him, share a story, and that you are gentle!  Gimli will visit the Children's Department from 1:00-2:00

Family Movie Matinee is back! Come join us on the 1st Saturday of the month for popcorn and a movie at 2 p.m. in the Community Room located on the 3rd floor of the WCFL Hagerstown Branch!

Calling all young Ornithologists!  Come learn about the structure and function of bird beaks and feet: song birds; birds of prey; and, water fowl.  Children will enjoy stories and activities that teach how the size and shape of bird beak

Join us for a craft time just for tweens. Too old for story time, not ready for our teen programs, this event is just for you!

Learn simple, practical ways to live a more low waste lifestyle that will not only help to preserve our environment, but help build community, save money and improve quality of life. 

Come to a short orientation to familiarize yourself with the expectations, potential jobs, and benefits of our VolunTeen program.  Then you will be all set to earn SSL hours!

The library is hosting game night.  Board games are available.  Ages 12 and up please. Registering will give us an idea of how many people to prep for.  Bring your favorite board game.

All ages, join us for this Snowflake workshop where we will make snowflakes out of paper bags, clothespins, and paper.  Call to sign up or sign up online.
