This reception is held in honor of the winners of the 2025 Writers and Poets Contest. Winners will be contacted directly by a library representative in April.

Want a small group Storytime focused on a set schedule and a much calmer atmosphere than our Toddler and Preschool Storytimes? Stop in for our Multi-Sensory Storytime for children and families of all ages with all abilities.

Join us for silly and fun hands-on games. Compete against your own family or others in this goofy minute-to-win-it-style event. The fun begins at 5:00pm. Join us for timed games like:

Come join us for a fun Storytime with rhymes, songs, and a craft.

NEW! A weekly hangout and advisory board for 9 through 12 year olds. We will eat snacks, play games, make crafts, and talk about what fun things we should do at the library. No registration necessary. Be there or be square!

Toddlers aged 18 - 36 months and their caregivers will enjoy books, songs, flannel stories and rhymes with a librarian.

Join us for our Family Story Night for children of all ages. 

In our 2nd Mosaic workshop, we'll make a mosaic heart-shaped coaster/trivet as a handmade Mother's Day gift. 

Come to the library for a special day celebrating books and reading!  We will have a book giveaway from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM.   

Join Miss Alyssa for a fun Themed Family Storytime with stories and songs.

Children and families come to Milk and Honey Farms for a fun story time and tour of the farm.  Please meet us at Big Field, which is at the corner of Pondsville Rd. and Spur Rd. (just off Mapleville Rd.), Smithsburg, MD. Sign up online.

Bring your Pokémon cards to trade with others in our community room and socialize while you build your deck.  This is for ages 6-17.  Intermediary provided to ensure fair trades.  Parental supervision required for 10 and under.

It's never too early to think about Bike Safety when we think about Safe Kids. The Washington County Health Department will stop by to talk with us about Bike Safety as we head into the warmer days of spring and summer. All are welcome.

End of the Year Home School Party! Journey back in time to Colonial America and experience the food, games, chores, and other parts of life for kids in the 17th century. Home schoolers grades 1 through 8 welcome. Registration required.

Discussion and activities relating to the book Oscar about Town by James Herriot 

Join us for a storytime on gardening.  We'll have a project to start your own plant from seed and a craft to add to your own garden.  And there will be a tour in our beautiful garden.

Join us to learn about people that changed the world, their lives and achievements.  Each session will include hands on activities.  For the month of May we will be learning about industrialist, Henry Ford.
