Program Description

Event Details

George Washington slept here, travelled through here, and corresponded with Fort Frederick and with local citizens who were prominent in the Revolutionary War. He also scouted out Williamsport as a location for the new nation's capital. Washington knew the Williams of Williamsport, the Fitzhughs of Chewsville, the Hughes brothers of Mt. Aetna and Old Forge, and many others. In this talk Jefferson Boyer will also talk about the Washington monument in Boonsboro, and give accounts of how Washington's birthday was celebrated in our country's early history. Come and raise a glass of cider to celebrate Washington's 295th birthday!
