Program Description

Event Details

Please join us on Sunday, October 12 at 3 PM when we welcome back Angela Easterling and Brandon Turner for our kick-off Voices of our Past program series.

"A Songwriter's Journey Through American Music": In a program originally developed for the Smithsonian Institution’s traveling exhibit "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music", Angela Easterling presents a performance of her own original songs interspersed with selections of classic folk, roots, and country tunes. As part of her performance, she discusses the craft of songwriting and tells the stories behind her songs and how they came to be, weaving in some of the history of roots music and the artists who have influenced her writing, such as The Carter Family, Johnny Cash, Woody Guthrie, and Dolly Parton. Her duo partner, Brandon Turner, provides descriptive demonstrations of blues music from different regions and different styles of blues guitar.   Seats are limited so please sign up today!
