Event Details

The Washington County Free Library invites you to our brand-new Fletcher Film Series! Each month's films will be based around a different theme. In honor of the Halloween season, October's theme is "Spooky Screens", where we'll be showing some classic horror films. Stop on by the Fletcher branch for some spooky fun!

Note: The films in this series are intended for older teens and adults. Water and light refreshments will be served.

This week's film is "The Haunting", the 1963 film based on the book "The Haunting of Hill House" by Shirley Jackson. Dr. Markway, doing research to prove the existence of ghosts, investigates Hill House, a large eerie house with a lurid history of violent death and insanity. With him are the skeptical Luke, who stands to inherit the house, the mysterious and clairvoyant Theodora, and the insecure Eleanor, whose psychic abilities make her feel somehow attuned to the old mansion. As time goes by, it becomes obvious that they have gotten more than they bargained for, as the ghostly presence in the house manifests itself in horrific and deadly ways.
