Program Description

Event Details

Washington County Free Library welcomes you to the Fletcher Film Series. Each month, we bring you films based around a central theme. November is "K'e" in honor of National Native American Heritage Month.

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

No registration required. Water and popcorn will be served.

Our first film this month is the 1998 indie drama "Smoke Signals". Native Americans Victor and Thomas grew up together on the same Coeur d'Alene reservation in Idaho. Despite their differing personalities, the two are forever linked by the act of Victor's father Arnold saving Thomas from a house fire when he was a baby. As a result, Thomas thinks of Arnold with reverence, while Victor sees only the violent alcoholic who abandoned his family. When the pair learn that Arnold has died, they hit the road to retrieve his ashes - and along the way, come to terms with their differing views of the same man.

Starring: Adam Beach, Evan Adams, and Irene Bedard

Run Time: 1 hour and 29 minutes

Rated PG-13 for some intense images
