Program Description

Event Details

Washington County Free Library welcomes you to the Fletcher Film Series. Each month, we bring you films based around a central theme. July's fare is "By the Sea", beach-themed movies in honor of the summer season.

Note: The film series is intended for older teens and adults. Children under the age of 17 should be accompanied by an adult.

No registration required. Water and light refreshments will be served.

Our first film of the series is the 1975 classic blockbuster "Jaws" When a young woman is killed by a shark while skinny-dipping near the New England tourist town of Amity Island, police chief Martin Brody wants to close the beaches, but mayor Larry Vaughn overrules him, fearing that the loss of tourist revenue will cripple the town. When the body count rises, ichthyologist Matt Hooper and grizzled ship captain Quint offer to help Brody capture the killer beast, and the trio engage in an epic battle of man vs. nature.

Starring: Roy Schieder, Richard Dreyfus, and Robert Shaw

Run Time: 2 hours and 4 minutes

Rated R for language, brief nudity, and violence involving sharks
