Event Details
The Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, in partnership with The F.O.C.U.S. Trainer, Cherish McMillan-Kilgoe, will host Black authors from Washington, Garrett, Allegany, Frederick, and Montgomery counties in Maryland.
Attendees can visit the Bookmobile before or after the event to browse our collection, check out books and sign-up for a library card.
This special event celebrates Juneteenth by honoring the resilience, creativity, and literary achievements of Black authors in our community. Attendees will have the opportunity to connect, engage, and support Black writers while reflecting on the progress made since a time when reading and writing were punishable acts for enslaved African people.
