Event Details

Join us for a morning bird walk on the grounds of the Boonsboro Library!

PVAS Host: Mark Abdy, Heather McSharry

Free and open to the public. All ages are welcome, though youth must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required and limited to 20 participants. This program has a minimum of 2 participants.

Join us for this special bird walk at Boonsboro Library! We will explore the habitat near the library, which includes a pond. This bird walk is near the start of spring migration season, so we hope to spot a few migrating birds during this walk!

  • Walking Distance: 1.5 miles or less
  • Pace/Activities: Leisurely (meandering, many breaks to stop and observe)
  • Exposure: Partial shade. Some areas of full sun.
  • Terrain: Grass, which will likely be wet with the morning dew. Mostly flat, with one gentle hill.
  • Restroom: Restrooms are available at the library.
  • Parking/Where to Meet: Meet in the Boonsboro Library parking lot.
  • What to Bring: Wear sturdy shoes that are waterproof/resistant enough for the wet grass, dress for the weather, and bring water. Ticks can be out in late April, so you may want to wear bug spray and wear long pants/socks – or both. If you have them, binoculars and cameras are recommended. You may also want to consider installing free birding apps created by the Cornell Lab or Ornithology to your mobile device: 1) Merlin (https://merlin.allaboutbirds.org/) and 2) eBird (https://ebird.org/about/ebird-mobile/).
