Adam Hildebrand Stocks His Store

A fancy advertising poster printed in 1856 by a Smithsburg store keeper is the starting point for understanding how general stores were community "hubs" in the pre-Civil War Era.  Included are a look at some actual store ledgers from Smithsburg storekeepers, some that are almost 200 years old.  Presented by Jefferson Boyer, president, Smithsburg Historical Society.  Approximately 30 minutes.
