Program Description

Event Details

Bring your little ones (and their favorite plushie) to the Fletcher Library for an interactive story time with author/illustrator Ashley Belote! Ashley will read her new picture book Don’t Wash Winston, a heartwarming and funny story about a child who is scared to wash their beloved bear.

This event is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. Books will be available through Curious Iguana for purchase and signing at the event.

About the book: When Winston, Liam’s favorite teddy bear, gets muddy, Dad decides that Winston needs to be washed. But the washing machine is big and loud and scary! Liam decides that the only solution is to hide Winston away from this terrible fate. This humorous and heartwarming tale allows anxious toy-protectors to gleefully follow along with Liam’s teddy-hiding plans, while also, in the end, leading them to the realization that sometimes it really is necessary for even the most beloved friend to be washed.

About the author: Ashley Belote, author-illustrator of Listen Up, Louella and The Me Tree, still has her favorite childhood teddy bear, named Winston. As a kid, she took him everywhere, including into the backyard to make mud pies. Inspired by those experiences, Ashley now spends her time making picture books that she hopes bring grins and giggles to readers. Visit Ashley at ashleybelote.com.
