Jazz pianist, Robert Sykes, has been performing and teaching professionally for the past thirty-five years in the Washington, DC area. He is currently a faculty member at Levine School of Music in Washington, DC, and an adjunct faculty member at Shepherd University School of Music. He maintains an active performing schedule as a freelance pianist and has performed at various venues, including The Kennedy Center, Blues Alley, Carter Barron Amphitheatre, Lisner Auditorium, The Phillips Collection, The Hirshorn Museum, The Corcoran Gallery of Art, The Hillwood Museum, The Barns of Wolftrap, and at numerous embassies in the Washington DC area.
After moving to Washington County in 2005 with his family, Robert began performing locally at the Washington County Library music series, as well as at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts music series. He is available to perform for private events, special occasions, and jazz festivals, along with his jazz colleagues of many years. Robert would like to thank the Washington County Free Library for their continued support of live music, and for inviting him to perform on their Noteworthy Concert Series.
Noteworthy Concerts are sponsored by the Washington County Arts Council, the City of Hagerstown, and Western Maryland Regional Library.
